　　金庸《神雕侠侣》的写作背景
　　1959年，金庸在创作《神雕侠侣》的时候准备创办《明报》，既然要创办《明报》，自然就要有一部足以与《射雕英雄传》相比美的力作来吸引读者。而吸引读者的最佳捷径，当然是写作《射雕英雄传》的后传或续书，让《射雕英雄传》中的那些使读者激动不已、耿耿难忘的人物再度出现，以慰广大的射雕迷的相思、渴慕之情，从而把金庸迷、尤其是射雕迷全都吸引到《明报》上来。
　　《明报》创办之初，机遇与风险并存，《明报》逐渐起色的时候，几名业务骨干纷纷辞职，或自主创刊，或跳槽到竞争对手那边。金庸并没有退缩，坚持《明报》的办报方针不变的同时，而是善于把握机会，准确分析国内外时局的变化，在香港众多报刊中迅速脱颖而出。金庸的阅历十分丰富，有过苦难，也把握住了一些难得的机遇，正是这二者成就了金庸。金庸在《神雕侠侣》的创作过程中，也无意间使其中的英雄人物在成长过程中经历着重重苦难，但又能遇到别人无法遇到的机会。
　　《神雕侠侣》从1959年5月20日起在金庸一手创办的《明报》创刊号上开始连载，并配有大幅插图，这部小说写了两年多，刊载历时近三年。
　　《神雕侠侣》主题赏析
　　杨龙二人从出场直到全书三十二章，是一个个性不断发展，形象不断丰满的过程。两个人从开场一个满身痞像到后来专一深情，一个冷漠如霜到后来通彻明悟，一个是走向成熟的过程，一个是个性解放的过程，两人的形象都难以用单一的词语来形容。杨过亦正亦邪侠义为怀，他一方面狂放不羁，一方面对爱情执著，矢志不渝；小龙女本来修的无喜无哀，爱上杨过之后天性慢慢显露，对世界形成了自己独特的看法。二人从古墓修习武艺，到大胜关的相聚，到绝情谷相认，到襄阳城共同对抗蒙古人，再到终南山重阳宫力战群魔，拜堂成亲，古墓里洞房花烛，最后又到绝情谷生死离别，也将一个懵懂无知的少年变的慢慢理解了情爱，理解了生命中最重要的部分，将一个平淡如水的少女变的慢慢起了涟漪，直到波涛汹涌，爱情像潮水般涌进她的心窝；从此二人开始视对方为自己的性命，直到情愿为对方赴死，二人至情至性的形象到这里全部可见。
　　小说中的另一对极端对比便是绝情谷主公孙止与其元配铁掌莲花裘千尺。究其原因则实质上源于裘千尺与公孙止二人的性格与人品及其意志与修为的低下。裘千尺的凶蛮与雌威管束固然使公孙止难以久伏而生厌恨之心，而裘千尺对于公孙止的情妇（公孙止对她未必有情，只是相对调剂耳）固然是过于狠辣，而公孙止的报复却也未免过于阴鸷狠辣令人发指。公孙止自从遇到小龙女之后，对小龙女之爱固痴，然而其情欲与占有的成分毕竟远胜于真心真情之奉献。而自欲娶小龙女而不可得，抑制已久的情欲突然如堤防溃决，不可收拾，以他堂堂武学大豪的身份竟致出手去强夺完颜萍，已与江湖上下三滥的行径无异。至于后来见李莫愁美貌又私欲相亲，而不惜以再度残害亲生女儿为代价，如此可以说是人性丧失了。最后终于被裘千尺所诱而一同葬身于厉鬼峰上的百丈洞穴之中（此处正是裘千尺被囚之处），真可以说得上是殊途而同归了。说到底，未必是情、性乃至欲所至也，这乃是各人个性的根本表现，在更深的一层上，亦正是人性的永恒的悲剧之一幕。
　　小说中另有一幕悲喜剧，那就是武三通的两个儿子武敦儒、武修文兄弟二人同时爱上了郭芙，不能自禁不能自已，以至于骨肉相残，欲图你死我活之一搏。幸得杨过谎言真功解救之后，忽尔发现天良之中的手足之情。并且碰上了完颜萍、耶律燕时，竟尔分别投缘，终于以大团圆结束。这个故事一时叫人难以解说，或愿为武氏兄弟庆幸，或转而为武氏兄弟为此快速地移情别向而感到某种伤怀。实则正如小说中所写的那样：武氏兄弟和郭芙同在桃花岛自幼一齐长大，一来岛上并无别个妙龄女子，二来日久自然情深，三则郭芙虽智不达而心不惠，然而在少年眼中却娇艳异常、美貌无比，若要两兄弟不对郭芙钟情，反而不合情理。后来之所以情变，那首先是忽然听到郭芙的绝情无义至气丧心灰，其次则是海阔天空，有缘千里来相会，碰上了完颜萍与耶律燕这等或是楚楚可怜而温柔斯文，或是明丽动人而豪爽和气，而不似郭芙之扭扭捏捏尽是小心眼及每日里便是叫人怄气受罪。这一故事便似悲似喜，如此收场。有趣的是，郭芙也几乎同时发现了耶律齐，而终于不必再面临武氏兄弟的艰难的抉择。
　　《神雕侠侣》集文学性、艺术性、传奇性、趣味性于一身，表现了作者组织情节、运用语言、塑造人物的高度技巧。情节变化无穷，妙趣横生；叙述明晰流畅，人物对白极富个性化；尤其值得一提的是小说在人物形象塑造上的突出特色，主要人物言行事迹既不失传奇色彩，又符合个人性格特点，其中如杨过的偏激狂傲、洒脱不羁，小龙女的纯洁淡泊，无邪可爱，至真至纯，李莫愁的狠辣，公孙止的阴险歹毒等等，无一不栩栩如生，如临目前。
