　　萧峰，原名乔峰，金庸武侠小说《天龙八部》主人公，北宋年间辽人，因机缘巧合被少室山下汉人夫妇抚养长大。
　　他行侠仗义，智勇双全，豪迈飒爽，是金庸笔下少有的阳刚男子。
　　萧峰师从少林及丐帮，与慕容复并称为北乔峰，南慕容，为江湖年轻高手中的双峰，任丐帮帮主，身世揭秘后被迫退位，在辽国因助耶律洪基平息叛乱，受封为南院大王，后为阻辽帝攻宋，以断箭自尽于雁门关外，年仅33岁。
　　萧峰人生经历坎坷悲壮，其胸襟气吞山河，是一个心系苍生并忠于国家和民族的悲剧英雄。
　　萧峰生父是萧远山，由乔三槐收养，有一个妻子阿朱（早亡），并有义弟虚竹、段誉，义兄耶律洪基。
　　萧姓为契丹后族（太后萧氏一族），萧氏父子是契丹贵族。乔峰九月重阳节左右出生。
　　乔峰自幼聪明伶利，武艺超群；江湖上与姑蘇慕容氏掌门慕容复齐名，北乔峰，南慕容只要是武林人士尽皆朗朗上口。
　　七岁时，乔峰就曾显露修罗嗜杀的本性，在受委屈无处可申时，他选择了自力救济，狙杀了势利的大夫，以平息其心中的怒火。
　　师从少林寺玄苦大师，后加入丐帮，丐帮前代帮主汪剑通因为深知乔峰是契丹后裔，所以十分提防，并给予乔峰三大难题、七大功劳的考验。
　　后来乔峰立下很多汗马功劳，仁义兼备，并于泰山大会连创九名强敌，为丐帮解困，被汪剑通推选为新帮主，期间掌管丐帮八年，一直率领丐帮抗击契丹，其间吒叱风云，是领导武林群雄的泰山北斗。
　　常年在中国北方活动，以帮助北宋抗击外敌为己任，表现出许多非凡的气概和事迹，是极其高大的英雄形象。
　　在无锡城松鹤楼中与大理皇子段誉气味相投，义结金兰。
　　在杏子林丐帮大会中得知自己身世是契丹后裔而黯然离去，也在途中结识慕容世家二婢之一听香水榭主人阿朱。
　　后来因养父养母和师父被大恶人杀害而被冤枉为凶手。
　　去少林寺探望师父时，发现师父已死，躲在菩提院佛像后时，被方丈玄慈、达摩院首座玄难和戒律院首座玄寂发现，遭到三高僧围攻，玄慈使出少林七十二绝技之一大金刚拳击来时，无意间将阿朱连累，使其受了重伤。
　　为了求阎王敌薛慕华神医医治阿朱，不顾聚贤庄群豪正准备讨伐他，毅然孤身拜庄，最后被迫于聚贤庄上以一敌百，大开杀戒。乔峰虽曾立誓不杀汉人，但不得不破除誓言，只得独战三百余人，拼命相抟，自己亦为护阿朱已致身受重伤，幸被恩公救回。
　　伤愈后上雁门关观看生父留下字迹，却发现阿朱居然守候于此五日五夜！被阿朱情意深深感动的乔峰，与阿朱携手下山，相互爱恋。
　　途中由原名乔峰恢复契丹名萧峰，之后努力追查杀害养父母及师父凶手，却因丐帮副帮主马大元遗孀康敏的误导，以为段正淳是带头大哥，因而错手误杀阿朱。乔峰应允阿朱遗愿照顾阿朱之妹阿紫。
　　自此萧峰流落到大辽，与契丹皇帝耶律洪基结为兄弟。
　　后因消弥辽国政变，萧峰以一敌百扺抗千兵万马，箭杀辽国南院大王楚王耶律涅鲁古，擒拿辽国天下兵马大元帅耶律重元，及救回耶律洪基一命，萧峰被封为辽国南院大王，居于佑圣宫，多个月以来忙于处理军务。
　　期间阿紫因种种原因独自跑到中原闯荡，萧峰得知其失踪后，派人四处查探，查到阿紫在少林寺后，便即率领燕云十八骑直闯少林寺武林大会，救到阿紫，捣破全冠清的阴谋，并从玄慈方丈口中得知他就是带头大哥，并查明自己身世，原来大恶人、恩公是生父萧远山（当年雁门关一役乱报谎言之人为慕容博、带头大哥为玄慈）。
　　后来耶律洪基欲迫萧峰攻打大宋，萧峰不从，且胁迫耶律洪基下令，终生不许辽军一兵一卒越过宋辽疆界后，自尽于雁门关前，死后尸体被阿紫抱起投入当年父亲自尽的深谷中。
