　　这个不好说，金庸也没有做过明确的的描写，只能靠读者推理了。再我看来，之所专以在射雕和属神雕时期，江湖中没有出现少林寺僧人的原因有两点，一是当时北方战乱，又为异族占据，而金人和蒙古人比较偏向于道教，成吉思汗甚至接见册封丘处机，所以少林寺僧人出行必然多有阻滞；二是根据《倚天屠龙记》里的描写，在倚天时期之前，也就是射雕和神雕的数十年时间里，少林寺发生了重大聚变，一个烧火的小人物偷学暴走，大闹少林寺，击毙当时的少林寺方丈，然后逃去西域创立金刚门，这个人就是火工头陀，金刚门有一种疗伤圣药叫做《黑玉断续膏》，楼主应该知道吧，此时之后数十年少林寺元气大伤，一蹶不振，这应该也是少林寺僧在此期间不在江湖上行走的合理解释。
　　我的原则一直是这样：首先承认，肯定是金庸没想到写，其次要圆就好好圆，反正胡说八道也不上税。
　　那大家做好心理准备，圆的过程中很可能引起不适。明面上的理由，是火工头陀之乱导致少林衰落。火工头陀是倚天开篇七十年前，那会儿也就是郭靖出生之前大概十年，华山论剑前四五年左右，九阴真经正在江湖上掀起腥风血雨华山论剑呼之欲出那段岁月。但实际上么

　　那是薄薄的一册手抄本，书中记载着本寺的一桩门户大事：距此七十余年之间，少林寺的方丈是苦乘禅师，乃是天鸣禅师的师祖。这一年中秋，寺中例行一年一度的达摩堂大校，由方丈及达摩堂、罗汉堂两位首座考较合寺弟子武功，查察在过去一年中有何进境。众弟子献技已罢，达摩堂首座苦智禅师升座品评。
　　突然间一个带发头陀越众而出，大声说道，苦智禅师的话狗屁不通，根本不知武功为何物，竟然妄居达摩堂首席之位，甚是可耻。众僧大惊之下，看这人时，却是香积厨中灶下烧火的一个火工头陀。达摩堂诸弟子自是不等师父开言，早已齐声呵叱。
　　那火工头陀喝道：师父狗屁不通，弟子们更加不通狗屁。说着涌身往堂中一站。众弟子一一上前跟他动手，都被他三拳两脚便击败了。本来达摩堂中过招，同门较艺，自是点到即止，人人手下留情。这火工头陀却出手极是狠辣，他连败达摩堂九大弟子，九个僧人不是断臂便是折腿，无不身受重伤。
　　首座苦智禅师又惊又怒，见这火工头陀所学全是少林派本门拳招，并非别家门派的高手混进寺来捣乱，当下强忍怒气，问他的武功是何人所传。
　　那火工头陀说道：无人传过我武功，是我自己学的。
　　原来这头陀在灶下烧火。监管香积厨的僧人性子极是暴躁，动不动提拳便打，他身有武功，出手自重。那火工头陀三年间给打得接连吐血三次，积怨之下，暗中便去偷学武功。少林寺弟子人人会武，要偷学拳招，机会良多，他既苦心孤诣，又有过人之智，二十余年间竟练成了极上乘的武功。但他深藏不露，仍是不声不响的在灶下烧火，那监厨僧人拔拳相殴，他也总不还手，只是内功已精，再也不会受伤了。这火工头陀生性阴鸷，直到自忖武功已胜过合寺僧众，这才在中秋大校之日出来显露身手。数十年来的郁积，使他恨上了全寺的僧侣，一出手竟然毫不容情。
　　苦智禅师问明原委，冷笑三声，说道：你这份苦心，委实可敬！当下离座而起，伸手和他较量。苦智禅师是少林寺高手，但一来年事已高，那火工头陀正当壮年，二来苦智手下容情，火工头陀使的却是招招杀手，因此竟斗到五百合外，苦智方稳操胜券。两人拆到一招大缠丝时，四条手臂扭在一起，苦智双手却俱已按上对方胸口死穴，内力一发，火工头陀立时毙命，已然无拆解余地。苦智爱惜他潜心自习，居然有此造诣，不忍就此伤了他性命，双掌一分，喝道：退开罢！
　　岂知那火工头陀会错了意，只道对方使的是神掌八打中的一招。这神掌八打是少林武功中绝学之一，他曾见达摩堂的大弟子使过，双掌劈出，打断一条木桩，劲力非同小可。火工头陀武功虽强，毕竟全是偷学，未得名师指点，少林武功博大精深，他只是暗中窥看，时日虽久，又岂能学得全了？苦智这一招其实是分解掌，借力卸力，双方一齐退开，乃是停手罢斗之意。火工头陀却错看成神掌八打中的第六掌裂心掌，心想：你要取我性命，却没如此容易。飞身扑上，双拳齐击。
　　这双拳之力如排山倒海般涌了过来，苦智禅师一惊之下，急忙回掌相抵，其势却已不及，但听得喀喇喇数声，左臂臂骨和胸前四根肋骨登时断裂。
　　旁观众僧惊惶变色，一齐抢上救护，只见苦智气若游丝，一句话也说不出来，原来内脏已被震得重伤。再看火工头陀时，早已在混乱中逃得不知去向。当晚苦智便即伤重逝世。合寺悲戚之际，那火工头陀又偷进寺，将监管香积厨和平素和他有隙的五名僧人一一使重手打死。合寺大震之下，派出几十名高手四下追索，但寻遍了江南江北，丝毫不得踪迹。
　　寺中高辈僧侣更为此事大起争执，互责互咎。罗汉堂首座苦慧禅师一怒而远走西域，开创了西域少林一派。潘天耕、方天劳、卫天望等三人，便是苦慧禅师的再传弟子。
　　经此一役，少林寺的武学竟尔中衰数十年。自此定下寺规，凡是不得师授而自行偷学武功，发现后重则处死，轻则挑断全身筋脉，使之成为废人。
