　　《天龙八部》中，萧峰遭遇杏子林丐帮叛乱，白世镜出场，义正辞严，铁面无私，读者真的以为他是一个正直的人，不料到后来发现，原来白世镜表面上是道貌岸然，满口仁义道德，肚子里却满是男盗女娼，低贱下流，不折不扣的一个伪君子。杏子林叛乱那一段，白世镜疾言厉色，完全站在萧峰那一边，对搞叛乱的人是面如寒霜，对萧峰却恭敬有加，让人一开始就对他有很好的印象。后来白世镜终于暴露了伪君子的真面目，连萧峰都感到心中一惊，读者当然更是觉得不可思议了。
