　　黄药师为什么又叫东邪？
　　东邪黄药师：看过金庸武侠小说《射雕英雄传》和《神雕侠侣》的想必都对于东邪黄药师十分了解，黄药师乃是天下五绝之一，黄蓉的父亲。而黄药师是金庸笔下正中带有七分邪，邪中带有三分正的人物，是桃花岛的岛主，亦是桃花岛派创始人。
　　黄药师形相清癯，身材高瘦，风姿隽爽，萧疏轩举，湛然若神。身穿青衣直缀，头戴同色方巾，文士模样。个性离经叛道，狂傲不羁。性情孤僻，行动怪异，身形飘忽，有如鬼魅。桃花影落飞神剑，碧海潮生按玉箫是他一生武功的写照，武功造诣非凡，已臻化境，为金庸小说中武功最绝顶的高手之一。黄药师是黄蓉之父，对其妻冯氏（小字阿衡）一往情深。黄药师上通天文，下通地理，五行八卦、奇门遁甲、琴棋书画，甚至农田水利、经济兵略等亦无一不晓，无一不精。
　　黄药师漠视传统礼教，然却最敬重忠臣孝子（据黄药师的说法：此乃大节。）个性行事潇洒。武学传承方面，武功大都为自创，却没有明言谁为其师。在《射雕英雄传》故事发生之前，黄药师有曲灵风、陈玄风、梅超风、陆乘风、武罡风、冯默风六大弟子。陈玄风、梅超风互生爱慕，恐黄药师性格怪癖不予应允，决定窃取师父的《九阴真经》，窃上卷时被黄药师发现，仓皇逃走。黄药师一怒之下挑断其余弟子腿筋，全部逐出师门。
　　老顽童周伯通在运送《九阴真经》至藏匿地点的途中遇到黄药师与其新婚妻子冯衡，冯氏凭借过目不忘骗老顽童真经为假，周伯通一怒之下毁去经书；日后周伯通得知其受骗于黄药师二人，为防上册经书被盗，于是携带《九阴真经》上册经书前往黄药师居所桃花岛追讨经文，其时冯衡已死，黄药师又因周伯通言语相激，与之展开激烈交战，使出弹指神通射断周伯通双脚，从此困周伯通于岛上十五年。
　　《射雕英雄传》第十四回黄药师将梅超风、陆乘风重收师门下，然而曲灵风和武罡风已死，黄药师收容遗孤曲傻姑为徒孙。在郭靖和欧阳克来桃花岛上向黄蓉求婚，黄药师出了三道题目，郭靖经北丐洪七公和周伯通协助下赢得黄蓉。在临安府牛家村，为互相只认识了先后两天的徒孙陆冠英（陆乘风之子）和程瑶迦主婚。
　　因为一番误会之下，在牛家村内与全真七子展开激烈交战，黄药师功夫着实了得，在全真七子的最大绝学天罡北斗阵之下，仍然能凭桃华落英掌掌法等高超武功以一敌七维持平手局面。
　　第二次华山论剑，黄药师的桃华落英掌至奇门五转多套掌法下，三百招内仍无法撃倒郭靖，自认落败；后来逆练《九阴真经》的欧阳锋突然出现，黄药师运起弹指神通，哪知遭欧阳锋怪异无伦，一口咬住黄药师食指，无奈之下，连黄药师只得默认他武功天下第一。
　　于《射雕英雄传》内，郭靖、黄蓉参与华山论剑之后，由黄药师主持成婚，在桃花岛归隐，黄药师性情怪僻，不喜热闹，与女儿女婿同处数月，不觉厌烦起来，留下一封书信，要另寻清静之地闲居，径自飘然离岛。经过江南陆家庄时，黄药师使用弹指神通压倒性的力量轻松制服赤练仙子李莫愁，并破了她的冰魄银针，顺道救了程英，当关门弟子。
　　因讨厌世俗礼教而和杨过一见如故。旧五绝中最年轻的一位；新五绝中唯一而且名号没改的武林高手。
　　黄药师人物形象
　　金庸小说所有女子之中，最幸福的一定是黄蓉的母亲冯蘅女士了，因为她有黄药师这样的人做丈夫（冯蘅因黄药师而亡，不知有何可幸之处？东方剑）。黄药师上通天文，下通地理，博览群书，精通阴阳五行、奇门八卦数术，琴棋书画，更是无一不精，黄蓉随便乱学些皮毛，已经十分可观，黄药师本人如何聪明及有才学，就不难想象得到了，何况他还武功盖世，脐身一流高手之列？黄药师本人风流潇洒，口味高雅，单从他的武功已可见端倪。他的落英掌、兰花拂穴手追求姿态优美，碧海潮生曲更是寓武功于音乐。桃花岛的布局符合防卫，但表面上不露痕迹，但觉花木幽深，竟是园林艺术的上品。
　　看他的布置，便知他的生活充满抚琴、吹箫、烹茶、观画、钻研学问种种情趣，桃花影落飞神剑，碧海潮生按玉箫，多么令人神往！
　　他不落俗套，不为世俗思想所规限，他任性痴情而极度浪漫。妻子亡故，他恋恋不忘，十几年中，夜夜在她墓旁吹箫相伴，墓中供着的是他亲笔所绘的小像及最精巧的珍玩，他做了花船，思算携了她的玉棺，月夜出航，让海浪打碎船身，与她一同葬身大海，这是何等痴情，又何等浪漫。
　　而且他的浪漫，不是做梦的少年的浪漫，而是一个懂得爱也懂得欲的成熟男子的浪漫。他的重视真情，一生渴望思念也在所不计。所以，他看见黄蓉深爱郭靖，难舍难分，他便共鸣而发出悲吟：且乎天地为炉兮，造化为工！阴阳为炭兮，万物为铜！有这样的父亲而思嫁郭靖，黄蓉的口味实在不高贵。
　　这样的人自是骄傲的，所以是东邪，而黄药师的缺点也太多太多，伟大、英雄、完美的这些字眼不能用到他身上，但这么多才多艺多令人倾心之处的人，有缺点又有什么关系？冯蘅虽然早死，但也应是值得的。
